The Fashion East show is always one of the hottest tickets in town and this year was no different! After last year's stellar line-up, the style set headed down to the vaults at Somerset House to see what Lulu and her gang would send down the catwalk for AW10. Last year's stars, Michael van der Ham and Heikki Salonen retuned to Fashion East, while headwear genius Nasir Mazhar joined Lulu’s luminary line-up for the first time.

Michael van der Ham continued to wow the front row with his mismatching, yet glamorous dresses for AW10. Combing vintage pieces from various eras, Michael has made a name for himself with his collaged pieces that have an irresistibly cool, yet ladylike feel. And for AW10, the designer’s collaboration with Liberty meant that his talent for mixing and matching only got more exciting as beautiful floral fabrics from their archive were thrown into the mix. From bright pink pansies to itsy bitsy prints, Liberty’s archive fabrics worked perfectly teamed with the designers' love of mohair, silk and lame!

Heikki Salonen’s debut collection at Fashion East was loved by London’s girls who like to look chic, but in an effortless kind of way. For AW10, his grungy aesthetic was still there but had been given a more sophisticated feel. Inspired by the film Leon – in which a girl is forced to grow up after her family is murdered – materials were richer, giving his sharp tailoring and utilitarian style pieces a more mature feel. The hand-embroidered and printed symbols that featured throughout the collection added the perfect touch of detail to Salonen's elegant, yet wearable dresses. And one thing's for sure, everyone will be after a pair of velvet Doc Martins and tinted round specs after seeing this show.

The king of crazy headpieces, over the last three seasons, Nasir Mazhar has showcased his work at London Fashion Week in a series of memorable instillations. But as one of London’s most talked about talents, it was great to see his outrageous designs showcased on the catwalk at Fashion East. Drawing inspiration from the fierce attitude of today's slick Rude Boys and Girls, Mazhar re-interpreted the classic baseball cap for AW10. Bursting with energy and youth, Mazhar was a great new addition to Lulu's super cool line-up.
