When a show begins with a killer tune like The Cure’s A Forest, you know you’re in for a treat! And while Prabal Gurung’s red-carpet-ready looks aren’t necessarily practical for daywear, the blaze of colour and fun on the catwalk made us tingle from the inside out; making up for any sort of impracticability.

Appearing out of the darkness like elegant tropical fish, models took to the catwalk in collection that seemed to state, “Forget me not!” Immaculately tailored and sculptural dresses dazzled alongside separates and outerwear in bright turquoise, fuchsia, white and orange.

Architectural dresses with sinuous folds, extreme hour-glass silhouettes, ostrich plume-like puffball skirts and floor-sweeping gowns with slivers of mesh were incredible. This is Prabal’s third season designing for himself following his role at Bill Blass, and just by gauging the audience’s overall feel and reaction, this is a young designer with a future as bright as his amazing clothes!
