An expectant silence hung over the crowd of style-setters as the first notes of darkly fairytale music thrummed out and top model Bambi stalked onto the catwalk. What followed was an epic tale of mysticism, fantasy and the ethereal cosmos. In a palette of warm summer-evening tones that picked out hot pinks, neutral nudes clay reds and deepest black, the fashion parade commenced, tuning in to a strong 70s undercurrent that we can’t wait to cram into our wardrobes. Design Manager Emma Farrow believes that 'It's important for us to be here at London Fashion Week and show our support for all the British designers, but also it’s really good for us to be kick-started ourselves and to always to be thinking ahead to the next season.' And for SS11 our in-house design team certainly didn't disappoint!

There were slim-fit trousers that kicked out into boisterous flares; maxi skirts with matching jackets; bellies on show; sunburst sparkles and uneven hemlines to set pulses racing. Prints abounded, with winged horses and hyper-real photography playing out over tops and bottoms alike. Glam rock raised its sartorial head in an all-over sequin jumpsuit and we cast aside the fashion rule book and layered metallics under sheer. Proportions shifted wildly as full-length maxis gave way to teeny minis and we rejoiced in knowing that the short short is here to stay.

Heavy fringing was a strong feature, and outsized denim in original washes were a key style note. Sitting alongside this were liquid-looking satin and loosely tailored silks paired with intricate embroidery and dreamy tulle. And, oh, the accessories! Perfectly round mirrored sunglasses and stacked, clear Perspex heels in woven leather went side-by-side with macramé bags and foil effect bikinis. Team with bright red lips and massive hair for the only look we want to be seen in throughout next summer!
