After an afternoon over at Somerset House, we wandered back over the bridge to the Topshop show space and found it transformed into the most beautiful scene by the boys at Meadham Kirchhoff. After Edward and Benjamin's unbelievable show last season, we were expecting something magical.

With bouquets of lilac and pink flowers arranged on the catwalk; rose petals scattered across the floor; smoke rising from the old train tracks; and the whole space smelling divine, we had to wander backstage to take a look.

Hair and make-up were in full swing and we didn't know what to snap first! A sartorial feast on the eyes, the models were having their hair sprayed into multi-coloured stripes, while silver glitter was being applied to nails and their faces transformed into dolls by the amazing make-up artists on hand.

When we asked what inspired the make-up, the head artist explained that "it was old waxy dolls – beautiful waxed dolls' faces – a little dirty. Twiggy, a bit of Courtney Love, those long, gothic lashes and also the counter of the old Biba make-up. I wanted it to look like the girls had put their fingers in everything and tried it all on. It's really about being really organic with the make-up, being fearless, trying different things."

Look out for the full report of Meadham Kirchhoff's show tomorrow and watch it played back here if you missed it earlier on!
