As Marc Jacob’s first Marc by Marc look hit the catwalk, we knew we were in for a decadent treat. For AW11, his collection was all about the sexy, sultry 70s. A bold copper-gold leather jacket over a metallic satin blouse, paired with herringbone trousers and lace-up oxfords immediately wowed the crowd.
Tailoring, oversized and playfully feminine-masculine, was key and teamed with lust-worthy cashmere and chunky knits. Corduroy suits, double-breasted macs and loose-fitting mens-style tailored shorts and suit jacket ensembles are set to be at the top of the style sets’ wishlists come autumn.
The collection had so many desirable looks – standouts including a polka-dot velvet dresses, leopard print sweater, loose-fitting late-disco era shifts, a supple silk jungle print jumpsuit and deep chocolate alpaca coat. The blown-out 70s hair-do’s and barely-there fresh-faced make-up also added to the day-disco glam!
Hemlines were elongated in keeping with the trend for spring, and accessories were – you guessed it – 70s inspired! Brown leather satchel-handbags, navy panther shoppers and leather hobo totes, alongside suede booties, chunky platform high-heels and chic tassel loafers.
