The Costume Institute Gala, one of the most prestigious events on the annual fashion calendar, took place over in New York last night. Better known as The Met Ball, this year, the party of the year was thrown to celebrate the opening of The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s latest exhibition Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.

We love that amongst all those couture frocks worn by the fashion elite, Ginnifer Goodwin and Jessica Szohr decided to ditch designer and chose to wear Topshop. Ginnifer, who is being billed as one of last night’s best dressed guests, was wearing a custom made design! But for those of you who love Jessica’s frock, you’ll be happy to hear that it’s from our AW11 Unqiue collection and will be available to buy around September. Fancy getting your hands on the shimmering black mini dress? We do too!

And if you’re over in New York between tomorrow and July 31st, make sure you don’t miss out on this extraordinary exhibition. A retrospective of the late designer’s truly groundbreaking work – from McQueen's first collection after graduating from Central Saint Martins back in 1992 to the runway presentation shown not long after his death in 2010 – this is an absolute must-see for any fashion lover. Showcasing over one hundred ensembles and seventy accessories from the late McQueen’s nineteen-year career, this is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the work of one of the world’s most prolific designers.
