Once again this season, Alexander Wang reminded us why he is synonymous with New York downtown cool. He has created a whole universe for his clearly defined ‘girl’, and whether she’s effortlessly tackling the urban jungle or racing BMX’s, she does it all in killer ensembles without breaking a sweat.

One part BMX-bandit, one part Tank Girl, Alexander Wang’s irresistibly sporty-techy vision for next season had us hooked from the first looks on the catwalk. Beginning with a wild tangerine polo, followed immediately by slightly more demure gun-metal hued pieces including laser-cut mesh utility vests, shorts, skirts, various fatigues and bomber jackets, the collection fit perfectly with the banging Afro-tribal techno soundtrack.

The ready-for-anything fatigue pieces made way for sleek racing uniform-inspired all-in-ones, the models were even clutching supercool bespoke helmuts! Yet another element was seamlessly added to the mix toward the shows close, a series of 90s fetish leather dresses, cleverly crafted with racing arrows along the sleeves and laser-cut detailing across the bodice to neatly segue into the BMX theme.

The highpoint of the collection for us though, was the graphic botanical print separates and ensembles – Wang hasn’t gotten into prints much in the past before, and we loved his experimental efforts and move into new territory!
