At Marc by Marc Jacobs, colours were hot, mirroring the Indian summer temperatures we’re experiencing this New York Fashion Week. In fact, the flustered audience were fanning themselves to cool down as the opening sweet and simple orange shift dress hit the catwalk.
The 60s vibe rang through in the bold palette principally consisting of green, navy, red, white and black, clean lines and supercute waist-frill detailing of much of the ensembles – and perhaps most clearly in the must-have frill and button-front detail one-piece swimwear. We’ll hit the beach in those please!
There was also a particularly sporty vibe at play, coming through in the mutli-coloured 80s style sneakers and dresses perfect for a spot of well-dressed tennis. Prints were scattered but striking, in the form of florals, stripes and checks – but it was the all-over vibrant colour-blocked daywear consistent throughout that stole the show.
We’ve been seeing a lot of 60s colour-blocked looks already this season, and if Marc Jacobs is getting in on the action we can be sure we’ll be seeing this look storming the streets come spring. Ooh la la – vive le coleur!
