It was a disco-dancing, glitter-balling, tinsel-twirling extravaganza at the Meadham Kirchoff show today. The Topshop venue was transformed into a Saturday Night Fever-style nightclub, with light-up dance floors on the catwalk and tinsel strewn across the seats.

In case the audience had any doubts that the clothes would match the spectacular setting, they were instantly put at ease by the parade of Party Monster-fabulous outfits that strode down the catwalk. Trousers made of tinsel tiers, Americana denim covered with retro transfers and Breakfast Club badges, girly knits with Barbie badges strewn across them, chiffon baby dolls and enormous shaggy furs in acid-bright hues.

We loved the use of gilded brocade and can see London cool girls rushing to own the colorful denim jackets. The new way to wear a shirt is with a sparkly bodice over the top, and the must-have shoes are sparkling Victoriana style platforms – perfect for stomping around the dance floor in.

Nasir Mazhar designed the head-gear: bobble ears, orange hair bows and spangles popped out of headbands and towering beehives in every colour from power plant yellow to bright orange – perfect to match the Wicked Witch of the West stripy lurex tights and clashing tartan pinafores.

This was a real celebration of what Ben and Ed have been doing for the last five years, and it was a party that everyone wanted to be a part of. As they told us backstage after the show, everyone needs a bit of glitter in their lives!
