We love the fact that here at Topshop HQ, there are so many interesting people working hard to ensure the magic happens! Every month we catch up with one member of staff to find out what their job involves, what gets them excited about coming to work every day and what makes them tick when they're out of the office. Last month, we chatted to Merchandise Admin Assistant Ayesha Zamal and today, we're catching up with Lucy Caws.

My job title is… E-commerce Content Co-ordinator

And that means… I help to co-ordinate all the content going on our website and social channels. I help to project manage offline marketing requests and work closely with the content and design team to brainstorm ideas, brief them in on upcoming projects to ensure everything runs smoothly.

I studied… History and Sociology at Exeter University

I got my job by… building up my CV during and after University by doing work experience in retail and fashion and then applying to Arcadia via the recruitment website. I started off by working on the Merchandising team but quickly realised that I was more suited to marketing. When a job came up, I went for it.

In a typical working day I… might have a meeting with members of the marketing team to discuss any projects on their radar. We brainstorm ideas of how to represent the project digitally, across our social channels as well as on I will also update the Content Calendar, as project dates are always changing, and typing up and circulating notes from any meetings or brainstorms. I also make sure all marketing messages go out across our social channels and help with Facebook posts, tweets and our live Q&A.

The best thing about my job is… working closely with so many different teams from the E-commerce team to Marketing, PR and Creative. I also love how varied the projects are that I get to work on from marketing charity projects to the excitement of London Fashion Week or launching a new social channel such as Tumblr.

When I was growing up I wanted to be… a doctor or a vet!

I couldn’t do my job without… My note pad and ‘To do’ list! There is so much going on at Topshop I need to make sure I don’t forget any important deadlines.

My advice to students hoping to crack the fashion industry would be… do as much work experience as possible, throw yourselves into whatever they give you (even if it’s not that exciting) and leave a lasting impression! If a job comes up they might remember you and all the hard work you put in.

I would describe my signature style as… classic with a bohemian edge. My wardrobe isn’t trend led, I’m more drawn to individual pieces.

And my hero piece for this season is… My new Topshop oversized denim shirt. You can throw it over anything such as a summery dress to a pair of colourful jeans for a casual look.

When I’m in London, my hottest hang-outs are… My new favourite bar is Bunga Bunga in Battersea – It’s a pizzeria/karaoke Bar and they do great cocktails! At the weekend my favourite thing to do is browse the stalls at Portobello market in Notting Hill or go for a pub lunch at The Jam Tree in Chelsea.

And when I’m in my hometown I love hanging out at… University Parks, in the summer it’s a great place to relax and have picnics with friends and family. There are loads of amazing old pubs in Oxford too like The Turf, which is hidden down a small cobbled street or The Eagle and Child where Tolkien and C.S. Lewis used to drink.

I can’t live without… friends, Iphone and my new Topshop neon pink pointy shoes!

My favourite magazine is… Since moving to London I’ve become obsessed with Stylist: it’s free and I love the weekly article about an inspirational career woman. I always find it interesting to know how they got where they are.

I love grabbing my lunch from… Home! Leftover dinners always taste good the next day or if I’m treating myself, sushi from Abokado round the corner from work.

As a special treat, I love to… Go out for dinner with my friends and go to the theatre – I’m obsessed with musicals and have seen nearly all the shows.

In five years I’d like to be… More established in my career, hopefully a Digital Marketing Manager running my own team!

Next month we’ll bring you another insight into Topshop HQ, in the mean time check out our Tumblr to see what the girls have been wearing to work.
