We first discovered the new electro girl Charli XCX at London Fashion Week, when she worked with the amazing designer (and music obsessive) Fred Butler to compose a brand new track, which was then used to soundtrack Fred's show. Charli is a 19-year-old shimmering, shining new talent on the music scene, even though she's been performing for five years already under the guise of different musical projects. After collaborating with DJ and producer Alex Metric last year, lots of people began to notice her stand-out vocal style and awesome stage presence (trust us, we've seen this girl dance and she definitely has the moves). Recently, she supported Sleigh Bells, Santigold and Coldplay, so it's safe to say her star is on the rise!

We really like Charli's 90s-inspired party girl look – she loves velvet, glitter and crazy colours and describes her style as "Wednesday Addams meets Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice meets Baby Spice”. It's quite the combination. As part of the Tumblr generation and an art school graduate, Charli is a very visual person and even uses colour to explain her music when she is recording ("make it sound more…orange!").

We think Charli XCX is going to go from strength to strength in 2012, especially based on her newest song 'You're the One' which was made available online yesterday. Have a listen and if you too fall for the Charli charm!
