Sun, sand and serious shopping. Topshop took over Montauk hot-spot The Surf Lodge to challenge to offer a taste of British coo to New York’s hipsters. In the form of a well stocked pop-up boutique styled by Twin magazine’s Naomi Miller and a weekend of partying and music courtesy of The Kills and Chairlift we brought a dose of London cool to the Hamptons.
Topshop’s personal shoppers (and general style mavericks) were of course on hand to help out with any style queries and had fun kitting out some seriously hot New York girls with their summer must-haves.
Staff aside there was no shortage of fabulous faces at the New York summer destination; model and great-granddaughter of Ernest, Dree Hemminway stopped by to peruse our specially curated picks as did New York art star Nate Lowman, hipster designer Johan Lindeberg and V magazine’s fabulous Editor at Large Derek Blasberg.
We cosied up on The Surf Lodge deck to toast the weekend with complimentary gin fizz cocktails and some exclusive Topshop goodies but was soon thrust to the dancefloor once the amazing line-up got started.
Musical accompaniment was second to none with Mia Moretti and Caitlin Moe beginning Friday night with a bang from the DJ booth and Chairlift sweeping the fashion-loving crowds up into a frenzy on Saturday. But it was Sunday night’s hands in the air set from anglo-American duo The Kills that really got everyone a-Twitter. And what was everyone talking about? Hair dos of course! Chairlift’s Caroline Polachek worked a midi dye with a swooping bleached blond stripe while The Kills’ Alison Mosshart looked utterly dreamy with her washed out pink locks. Who knew the Hamptons was the go-to locale for barnet inspiration?!
