When we’re not browsing New In on the Topshop website we’ve got a real soft spot for scouring the web for savvy digital fashion destinations. Refinery29 is one website we just can’t get enough of. This isn’t your average website covering fashion and beauty but a complete 360 look at everything we love about the world we work in. From breaking industry news from fashion insiders and creative DIY tips to behind the scenes of some of the most fashion-forward offices and reviews of local hot spots: there is nothing not to love.

So, when we heard the news the site was launching its very own London section with an office in our much-loved city we were overwhelmed with joy! The very fabulous editor-in-chief of the website Christene Barberich is a big fan too, “Refinery29′s readers have always looked to the UK’s rich fashion heritage and forward-thinking point of view for inspiration, so it made sense to make our global debut in the British capital.” And seeing it in the flesh, is even better! There’s legit London focused fashion  gossip – L’Wren Scott’s move from New York Fashion Week to London – mouthwatering overviews of the top places to eat in the capital – Hawkmoor’s special Christmas burger – , the places to get the most creative Christmas crackers and, perhaps our favourite, a list of the best of British e-commerce. We can’t wait to log on every morning for our fashion fix!

To get the inside scoop on our favourite fashion site we had a quick chinwag with Refinery29’s Global Editor, Connie Wang…

What’s the ethos behind Refinery29?

Ultimately, Refinery29 is a place where we hope people can come to be entertained, get inspired, and access resources, all in the name of personal style. We like to think of Refinery29 as the cooler best friend every person has who’ll tell you that your new $5 mohair sweater would look great with those crazy Versace pants in the back of your closet…and be able to give you the play-by-play of James Franco’s new “book” of “poetry” while explaining just why it is you haven’t been able to get a good night’s sleep.

What makes Refinery29 different from other fashion websites?

It really covers the fashion world in a 360 way that still feels personal. From actually realistic and fashion-forward style tips to industry news to posts about music, politics, health, and food (because, yes, fashion people are interested in things other than shoes), we really try and do it all.

Why do we need a London focused Refinery 29?

Refinery29 really started out as a locally focused website, and as we’ve grown, we’ve never lost sight of how important it is to really address the appetites of our readers on a local-level. We’ve established homes in five cities in the United States, and London is our first international market we’re going after. It’s going to be so much fun exploring fashion and culture here, because Londoners are not New Yorkers, Los Angelenos, or San Franciscans, and we’re psyched to be able to deliver content that hits close to home.

What can we expect for the London Refinery29?

First off, there are so many London brands, people, and places that have great stories to tell, and we’d love to be able to do that via some great original photography and dynamite writers. We’re also going to be exploring the city with guides and roundups through the Refinery29 lens, which is great fun for us as it involves a lot of on-the-ground research. Also, coverage of all the great fashion that’s happening in the city, too — duh!

Where are you off for Christmas?

My family always goes on a sort of “Spring Break in December” holiday to a warm, resort-y area, and this year we’re off to Orlando. Harry Potter World – here we come!

What’s on your Christmas list?

Not much, to be honest! I’ve been spoiling myself all year long, and I’m really just psyched to see my entire family in one place. But if that’s too sappy, I’ve also been pining after a new everyday handbag (preferably of the Loeffler Randall variety–they’re so good!).

So whether you want to stalk street style, learn how to braid your hair, raid the offices of your favourite brands or just keep up with the style set, this is the place for you! Happy reading…
