This month we journeyed further afield to our Las Vegas store to get the Topshop low-down from Personal Shopper Ginger Wang. Along with our usual job breakdown, we chatted winter sun getaways, perfect pool wear and fashion icons with the shoe-loving, yoga-practicing lady.
Where would your ultimate winter sun getaway be and what would you pack?
Maldives. As for packing, I’d definitely take a few different options of swimwear, the tiger eyes strapless bikini for sure as well as a few pairs of hot pants (studded, dip-dyed, etc!) and some joggers (Boutique silk ones, printed silk and skull or Aztec patterned) for lounging around the pool.
What are your top winter sun pieces to buy right now and how would you style them up?
I’m obsessed with our contrast vest jumpsuit, this style is great paired with a clutch, a great pair of pumps and clean top knot. I’m also after a co-ord tartan blazer and trousers that I’d team with the black scallop vest and pointy toe pumps. Finally, I’d pick up the open back shirtdress belted underneath a cropped leather jacket and accessorized with some major big earrings. I’m mad for the Boutique biker leather jacket too, I’d wear this over one of Limited Edition dress, just to add a bit of edge to the look.
If one of your clients came in for a ‘Bags of Appeal’ appointment for a Winter Trip to Palm Springs what key items would you suggest?
Some hero pieces mixed with a lot of staples. A contrast vest jumpsuit, cap sleeve dress, the gorgeous Maribou feathered cardigan and embellished bodycon dress for night. As for basics, a few colours of Leigh jeans, some jersey peplum tops and graphite heels.
If one of your clients came in for a ‘Bags of Appeal’ appointment for a Winter Trip to Costa Rica what key items would you suggest?
Swimwear and cover-ups for sure as well as a a variety of hot pants, a cap sleeve flippy dress, a high neck body con and a Limited Edition beaded strappy dress. I’d also suggest the short romper and a cropped denim jackets for the evenings. As for shoes, it has to be a pair of Lucky wedges and for night time dancing, some Regal heels.
What do you love about your job?
I love the relationships I get to build with clients and the VIPs I get to work with and build relationships with as well. I SHOP for a living…what’s better than that?
How would you describe your style?
Chic, edgy, androgynous, classic.
Who are your fashion icons?
Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Kate Moss, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen and Rihanna.
If you could ransack anyone’s wardrobe, who’s would it be?
Carrie Bradshaw, and maybe Lady Gaga’s…just for fun
Which is your current favourite Topshop collection and why?
The Limited Edition Dresses. All the designs, colors, and fabrics are all so LUXE. I wish I had some sort of event to go to every night so I can wear all these fab dresses.
What are your favourite key pieces for SS13?
Limited Edition Gold Print cut out shift dress: Gorgeous color and print, a statement on it’s own…accessorize minimally, hair in an updo, and classic heels. A knitted cable fur coatigan: everybody needs a little fur in their life this season. Easy to wear, can throw over any casual look. Check ponte trousers (16T08CWHT): comfortable cute houndstooth print to wear with an oversized knit sweater
What piece do you always come back to, season after season?
What’s your secret style trick?
If you have static in your hair, or clothing…run a dryer sheet over it to take the static out. Dress for your body type and always accessorize with a smile. Finally, it’s a fact, black is slimming!
What’s the style rule you live by?
You HAVE to be comfortable and confident in whatever you’re wearing. And you gotta OWN the look…don’t let the look own you!
What’s your fashion weakness?
Shoes, SHOES, SHOES! And outerwear.
What’s your favourite Topshop Make Up product?
Lip stain marker and highlighter
What’s your first memory of Topshop?
Poolside private cabana at the Trump Hotel for 2 weeks for PS training before Las Vegas store opening…LUXE.
Where’s your favourite place to go shopping where you live? (shops, areas etc.)
There’s not too many places in Vegas to shop, but my go to places are The Forum Shoppes and Town Square.
What would your best night out involve?
Here in Vegas… anything goes, just depends on the group of people you’re with that night, but most likely the night will involve Hyde at the Bellagio, XS at The Encore, a few empty bottles of Grey Goose, great friends and company, and lots of DANCING!
Where do you like to relax on a Sunday where you live?
Ginger’s couch… football on the telly, or hot yoga or pilates at the studio, and probably a mani & pedi session.
Why should someone book a personal shopping appointment with you?
Because I’m confident in all my choices, I’m brutally honest without being offensive of course, and I’ll push you outside of your comfort zone and try something different without you losing any confidence and feeling uncomfortable in the way you look.
What’s great about the personal shopping service?
It’s a one stop shop…we have it all, do it all, whatever it is your needs may be…Your wish is my command!
