Why would you recommend The Big Wow appointment at Personal Shopping?
The Big Wow is the perfect appointment if you’re looking for something really special. We tailor it around your needs; whether you’re looking for that one wow outfit or a capsule wardrobe for a weekend away. We like to think that we’re experts in wow dressing and take time to prepare our Personal Shopping suites filled with our most exciting outfits, complete with shoes and accessories. It’s the perfect time saving solution.
What type of events would the big wow appointment be good for?
The Big Wow is best suited to events where you really want to make a statement; in Liverpool this appointment is really popular for Ladies Day at the Aintree Races, where the girls want to look especially glam. It’s also great for weddings, but which ever event you have in mind you’ll leave feeling confident and looking great.
Are there any key dress shapes or styles you will be recommending this season?
The skater style dresses with heavy floral embellishments from our Limited Edition range are perfect for this season. They’re really versatile too so you can keep them feminine or make them a little more punk with a leather jacket and a chunky shoe. This style of dress works really well on a curvier figure too. I would also recommend the Modern Tailoring that’s just hit down in stores, the preppy chambray blazer and trousers are a great alternative to dressing up this season, it comes in a really fresh pastel blue and is a more modern way to ‘wow’ dress.
What are your key event outfits and how would you accessories each one?
Firstly, our Limited Edition pearl shift in dove grey is absolutely stunning; it’s really floaty so is great if you don’t feel comfortable in tight dresses. The pearl embellishments give it the wow factor and alot of people tell me they feel really special as they put it on. I would pair it with our silver Gwenda shoe, you won’t need to accessorize too much with this dress, it speaks for itself. I’d just add simple drop earrings.
The neon floral dress is really fun and girly, it’s hot pink with a tulip skirt and the shoulder detail gives it a modern edge. You could wear a little white shirt underneath it to give a more preppy look or keep it sexy and just add some neon accessories, if you want to be really daring I would contrast it with a cobalt blue or fluro yellow shoe like our vamp wedges in yellow.
Do you have any big events coming up you will be attending, and what will you be wearing?
My little sister 21st is coming up next month which will be a huge family affair and a big party. I’ll be wearing one of our new suits, white with black lapels and kick flare trousers; it’s just like one of the AW13 Christian Dior suits. I can’t wait to wear it!
How did you become a Personal Shopper at Topshop?
When I graduated I began working with Personal Shopping as a Personal Shoppers Assistant, I instantly felt like I had found my calling. I have a background in retail in independent boutiques but the only shop I wanted to be in was Topshop. I was trained by the two fantastic shoppers at Topshop Liverpool and then when one of them left to head up Personal Shopping in another store I was fully equipped to take over as Personal Shopper, I graduated nearly three years ago now and I’ve not looked back since!
What do you love about your job?
My job keeps me on my toes, there is always something to do and someone new to meet but you also build great relationships with your regular clients. It allows me to explore my creativity and there is a new experience every day. I love how I can transform someone’s confidence; it’s such a rewarding feeling when you know someone is leaving you feeling like a new person. And of course working around our fantastic stock, constantly being surrounded by beautiful clothes has its perks.
How would you describe your style?
Tailored, edgy, modern, minimalistic.
Who are your fashion icons?
The fabulous face of Topshop LA, Kate Bosworth. Chloe Sevigny, Carine Roitfield, and of course Kate Moss.
If you could ransack anyone’s wardrobe, who’s would it be?
I’d absolutely love to spend at least a week rummaging through the Olsen twins wardrobe, I love the eclectic way they style themselves and their edgy bohemian chic.
Which is your current favourite Topshop collection and why?
Monochrome, I’ve always been a big fan and I’m so glad it’s come back with full force. I love the graphic details and the pop of cobalt and oranges for a 2013 update. The trend is so easy to wear but ticks all the sartorial boxes with its clean lines and sharp shapes. The look is fresh and clean, perfect for brightening up your wardrobe.
What are your favourite five key pieces for SS13 season?
The organza shift dress it is everything I love about a dress, feminine and sexy but the sheer panel gives it a modern edge. I would keep it simple with a statement necklace, I particularly like the oversized stone pendant.
What piece do you always come back to, season after season?
My boutique leather jacket, every girl needs a good leather biker. It transcends all seasons and always adds a little attitude to any outfit. I also love a classic mac, I have one I bought from Topshop years ago and I still get asked where it’s from.
What’s your secret style trick?
Accessorize; add a piece of statement jewellery to make your look really stand out.
What’s the style rule you live by?
Heels, I’m quite short so I wear heels constantly. I wouldn’t feel myself without them, heels instantly add sophistication and glamour to any outfit.
What’s your fashion weakness?
Heels, heels and more heels. I’m also very partial to coats. I have a wardrobe that is entirely dedicated to outerwear, which is now making it’s way into my boyfriends!
What’s your favourite Topshop Make Up product?
What’s your first memory of Topshop?
Buying a full length denim fish tail skirt by moto. I was about 13 and was absolutely obsessed with it, it was hideous but at the time I felt like the trendiest girl on earth. That’s when my love affair with Topshop began, and still now when I buy a new piece I get that same buzz of excitement thinking about wearing it.
Where’s your favourite place to go shopping where you live?
Liverpool is such a versatile city for shopping you’ve got Cricket in the Cavern Quarter and Flannels for your high end designer pieces (the shoes selection in Cricket is particularly fabulous). But there is also some amazing vintage shops and stalls where you can find those more individual one offs. If you’re looking for something so particular only you can imagine it there are also lots of boutiques that will make a dress for you based around your own design, these are really popular here because Liverpool girls love to be brave and push the fashion boundaries.
What would your best night out involve?
It would have to start with my girlfriends and I going to our favourite French bistro just around the corner from my flat, Bistro Pierre. They do a fabulous Kir Royale with fresh raspberries. We’d then move onto Seel Street to Santa Chupitos for one of their Whiskey Sours and finally hit the Albert Docks to get our dancing shoes on.
Where do you like to relax on a Sunday where you live?
Liverpool has so many amazing places to go, it’s hard to choose but for me it would be the Camp and Furnace restaurant bar for one of their fantastic veggie roasts. Followed by a film at FACT cinema where you can sit on reclining chairs and have drinks delivered to your seats, finished off with a French Martini at Alma De Cuba.
Why should someone book a personal shopping appointment with you?
I’m completely honest and confident in every recommendation I give. I know our stock inside out and I’m very versatile, I have a very diverse range of clients and I find what is right for each of them. I’ll encourage you out of your comfort zone, making you look fabulous but making sure you’re entirely confident and still feeling yourself.
What’s great about the personal shopping service?

When you arrive your suite will be full of our best bits edited down especially for you. We’re on hand for advice and to help you explore new looks.
