Tonight ghouls, ghosts and zombies will flood the streets as the Halloween witching our strikes. For those, too old, to lazy, or too sensible for fancy dress – here’s a little movie review to get you in the spirit of things.

If we were to whittle down Halloween classics to a succinct ten, we’re quite sure that “Carrie” (based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King), would make it in there somewhere near the top. The 1976 version retained it’s title as ‘classic’ after a lousy sequel in 1999 and the TV movie remake in 2002…however, Sissy Spacek best look out as Chloe Moretz is coming for her, and she’s not alone. Directed by Kimberly Peirce she plays Carrie White with the amazing Julianne Moore cast as her mother.

For those who aren’t familiar with the story, here’s a quick summary: Carrie is a shy, retiring girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother, who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after pushed too far at her senior prom. We don’t want to spoil the end, but if you need some last minute Halloween dress-up inspiration just wait till you see what happens at prom.

The movie hits cinemas on the 29th of November.
