In the grand scheme of stylish cinema there are a few directors whose aesthetic is so distinct that their work is instantly recognisable – Wes Anderson is one such filmmaker.
From the title font and camera angle, to the soundtrack and highly stylised wardrobe – his touch is so particular that all of the former have become hallmarks of his trade.
If Gwyeth Patrow in The Royal Tenenbaums and Natalie Portman in Hotel Chevalier left you wanting more, fear not – his next project is due for US release in March 2014.
The Grand Budapest Hotel is a typical Anderson film with a 100 watt star cast including: Ralph Finnes, Edward Norton, Willem Defoe, Bill Murray, Jude Law and Adrien Brody –as well as fashion big hitters Tilda Swinton and Lea Seydoux.
The highly anticipated trailer was released earlier in the month and generated so much buzz that the SNL team created an Anderson spoof that aired on US TV last night.
It’s good, but there’s nothing quite like an Anderson original. Roll on March 2014. We. Cannot. Wait.
