Single this Valentine’s Day? Who cares. February 14th isn’t just for couples, as proven by these ace things to do without an other half.

1. Hit the town

Whatever your relationship status, V-day is one big excuse for a party.  We’ll be heading to House of Wolf in London for DJs and a ‘Blind Date’ show, while our New York friends will be sampling the Beyonce-themed menu at Brooklyn restaurant Brucie’s, with dishes including Brestiny’s Child and I am Pasta Fierce.

2. Watch a slasher movie

One of the best antidotes to the ubiquitous cuddly toys and kissing couples? A slasher flick of course. We’d recommend gory classics like Final Destination or Scream. Even if it’s just to crush on Drew Barrymore’s ’90s bob.

3. Have a Galentine’s sleepover

Gather your favourite girls together for an old-school sleepover. We’re thinking face masks, mani-pedis and Twister. Or get everyone to bring their unwanted clothes for a swapping session.

4. Spend it with Ryan Gosling

Download every film ever made by your man-crush of choice and treat yourself to an eye candy marathon.

5. Cuddle some cats

Embrace the ‘cat lady’ stereotype and head to Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium – East London’s very first cat cafe. Here you can kick back and relax with a cup of tea and spend time in the soothing company of the owner’s feline friends.

6. Treat yourself

Not everyone gets inundated with cards on V-day. So if there’s no sign of any roses arriving on your desk then you might as well treat yourself. Nothing says true love like a new pair of shoes.
