You may have noticed an Instagram snap of us hanging out with a certain Mr. Harry Styles recently – and yes, we’ve got to admit it was the highlight of our week. Harry caused a serious stir as he rocked up to London’s Ace Hotel, to party alongside fellow 1D bandmate Liam Payne, the Rizzle Kicks boys, Ed Sheeran and fashion designer Henry Holland. And the reason for this star studded extravaganza? To support Lou Teasdale, Personal Groomer of One Direction, at the launch party of her first book, The Craft

But theres more to Lou Teasdale then styling Harry Styles’ (albeit perfect) hair and being bezzie mates with the A-listers. She’s a top expert in her field, working behind the scenes as hair and make-up artist on the X Factor, a trendsetter and implementer of the latest beauty trends and teaming up with some of the world’s most iconic fashion photographers for shoots and campaigns. The Craft is Lou’s chance to share her expert knowledge with all of you, with step-by-step tutorials, insider tricks and inspiration from the streets of London. We chatted to Lou over cocktails and tarot cards at the launch to find out more…

What makes The Craft different from other beauty bibles?

The Craft ventures away from classic beauty looks and encourages girls to be creative with their hair and make-up.

Who did you write it for?

The book is for girls who might be just discovering make-up and expressing themselves through fashion and beauty.

The book is full off bright hair and make-up. What makes colour so on-trend right now?

I think the ’90s revival is playing a big part in this direction that fashion and beauty is taking. For the past couple of years we’ve seen a lot of bright colours in hair on the catwalks and it’s now becoming a very common trend being offered in salons up and down the country.

Who’s the most inspirational person you’ve ever worked with?

I once did a shoot with Juergen Teller. He was shooting One Direction for Sunday Times Style and I was pretty speechless. He’s a very influential guy and I almost felt start struck!

Whose hair would you love to get your hands on?

Miley Cyrus! I think she’s wicked and seems up for anything!

What were your favourite beauty looks from the AW14 catwalks?

I liked what Sam McKnight did for Chanel – dreadlock ponytails that mimicked the Chanel handbag straps. Very clever.

What hair products should we be investing in for summer?

My top three products for this summer are the Fudge Urban Powder Styler, Paw Paw Ointment for lips and Miss Manga Mascara from L’Oreal Paris.

Do you use the Topshop make-up range?

My fave Topshop product is the Blush in Flush which is a pinky crème blusher amazing for ‘no make-up make -up’ in summer. All you need is a bit of that on your cheeks and mascara and you’re set. Also I LOVE the brushes.
