We all love a bit of WHAM and Mariah at this time of year, but how about changing up your Christmas track list? We enlisted the help of DJ and London cool girl Blonde Ambition to share her top five lesser-known Christmas tunes.
1. ‘8 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS’ – DESTINY’S CHILD
“I’ve loved this song ever since it came out back in 2001. My sister & I memorised the words and I’ve pretty much played it whilst dancing around our living room every Christmas morning since…much to my parents dismay!”
2. ‘WHITE WINTER HYMNAL’ – FLEET FOXES
“It’s such a jolly, happy, feel good song and I always enjoy playing this as a festive alternative at Christmas time, or while excitedly driving home to see my family…”
3. ‘ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS NEW YEAR’S DAY’ – HURTS
“I like this cool festive alternative offering by Hurts, although I must say; I’m definitely not planning on rushing my Christmas to get to New Years Day, I’ll be savouring every last bit of it.”
4. ‘SOMEDAY AT CHRISTMAS’ – STEVIE WONDER
“It’s a nice thought to think of peace on Earth if only this were true. It’s a thought-provoking Christmas song and sang by a voice that I could listen to for ever and ever: the one and only Stevie Wonder.”
5. ‘GOODBYE ENGLAND COVERED IN SNOW’ – LAURA MARLING
“This song is just so lovely and sang so perfectly…it always gets me excited about retreating to the English countryside to cosy up and spend my Christmas walking in the hills.”
