Paris Fashion Week is a prestigious affair – with a schedule featuring some of the longest running fashion houses around, which in turn draws in seriously high calibre guests – celebrated journalists, editors, musicians and actresses sitting front row instead of straight-up celebs. But, this week, after seasons of sophistication, the Parisian designers decided to opt out of the traditional and add a healthy dose of LOL, resulting in one seriously fun Fashion Week. So, as we say au revoir, here’s three of the best bits:
1. CHANEL TOOK EVERYONE FOR TEA
The Chanel show is always bigger (and better) than your average catwalk, in the past we’ve seen supermarkets, banquets and a feminist march, but this season they opened pop-up restaurant, the Brasserie Gabrielle in their Grand Palais venue. Waiters were on hand to serve Cara, Kendall & co and the collection included ceramic saucer shaped mini-bags. Very French, very cute.
2. THERE WAS BLUE STEEL AT VALENTINO
This season’s Maison Valentino show has been pretty much all anyone can talk about since it happened, but it’s not just about the clothes. A pair of extra special models graced the catwalk pre finale: Zoolander stars Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson put on their best ‘Blue Steel’ poses to officially announce the Zoolander sequel (which comes out in February 2016) – we can’t wait!
3. THERE WAS SOME SERIOUS FUZZ FACTOR
There’s always a hefty amount of fur on the AW catwalks, but this season the fluff factor went through the roof. Stella McCartney went for full on Yeti chic with a hooded cream faux fur, and Freja Beha Ericson opened the Louis Vuitton show in an incredible supersized fluffy coat.
