Beyoncé’s latex second skin, Zoe Saldana’s feathered peacock dress and Clare Danes in a fiber optic light-up gown. Fashion, music and film’s finest seriously pushed the envelope in style at last night’s Met Gala celebrating the museum’s new exhibition, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. As usual Topshop was there with the coolest girls (and guys) of the moment. Models Taylor Hill, Stella Maxwell, Kate Upton, Maryna Linchuk and our new Instagram obsession Sofia Richie all wore bespoke Topshop for the big night.
The Topshop and Topman team – Nick Jonas, Douglas Booth and Cameron Dallas were in tow for the boys – met at the Peninsula Hotel for a meet and greet and took a couple of quick snaps before heading off to the main event. All the bespoke dresses gave a subtle nod to the exhibition’s theme, with a focus on advanced technical fabrications and innovative design techniques – find out more about each girl and their look below…
Model of the moment and a serious one-to-watch this year, Taylor Hill, got all romantic in a sweeping tulle gown. The model who walked in our Topshop Unique AW16 show in February brought a little sexiness with cut away sides, backless details and classic accessories. We expect big things…
As well as making it an opportunity to announce her engagement (check out that ring) Kate went for an old school Hollywood look in a gold one-shoulder corseted gown with a thigh-high split. Vintage vibes came from the antique clusters of metallic sequins covering the entire dress.
Vogue cover star and ex-girlfriend of Miley Cyrus, Stella Maxwell, slipped into a rose gold body-skimming gown with barely-there straps and a sweeping train. Stella and Taylor gave us serious BFF envy with some of their Insta posts pre-event, which showed the two of them twinning in backless gowns in their hotel rooms.
Music royalty and our new fashion crush, Sofia Richie made her second Met Gala appearance in an off-the-shoulder gown of metallic threads and black tulle. The 17 year-old spent the night taking pics with Kylie Jenner and capturing the purple-coloured lights of the Met dinner. Plus, she participated in a diary with NY Mag to show how she prepped for the event.
Victoria’s Secret model Maryna also got into the metallic theme with a one shoulder, rose gold column gown with a high-back split. One word: glam.
