How to Get Ready for the Met Gala with Sistine Stallone

The Met Gala may take over your Instagram feed for just a few days but it takes months of preparation to create the spectacle. For Topshop, we worked directly with our five guests – Sofia Richie, Joan Smalls, Behati Prinsloo Levine, Candice Swanopoel and Sistine Stallone – to get the perfect dress for each girl. The Topshop design team went back and forth with guests sharing sketches and fabric swatches, creating toiles (aka paper-like dresses!) before having up to three fittings each, just to get the right shape, silhouette and colour.

But once the dresses were finished the Met prep was only just getting started. From the make-up and hair to the all important jewellery, we followed Sistine Stallone’s Met Gala prep below with star stylist Solange Franklin

Hotel Arrival

Sistine flew in from her hometown of LA to get the Topshop treatment just a day before the Met Gala. Above are the custom Topshop PJs and roses from our friends at the Pop-Up Florist she found on arrival.

The Stylist Treatment

For the final dress fitting – just the night before! – stylist Solange Franklin came on board to bring her signature cool to Sistine’s classic Hollywood gown. “I loved working with Sistine,” said Solange, “she was so open and unafraid to try high fashion. It’s the Met Gala after all!”

Shoes Shoes Shoes

There was plenty of choice when it came to picking the right pair for the evening but what could have taken hours ended up being a five minute job. “Her Nicholas Kirkwood heels were the first and only shoes she tried. She shimmied right into the dress and slid into the shoes,” said Solange, “she declared them ‘beautiful and comfortable!’ and their shimmer matched the tone of her dress.”

Getting the Right Accessories

“There was something very celestial about her silver bugle-beaded dress and so for the jewellery and accessories I wanted to give a nod to that theme,” said Solange who picked out a Solange Azagury Patridge epic necklace from the Solar System collection to compliment the dress perfectly. “I love the symbolism of rising star, Sistine, entering this new chapter in a chic nod to the galaxy.”
