5 Things We Learned At The Fashion East Show

This morning, the second day of London Fashion Week kicked off with the Fashion East show in our Topshop show space. The designers in this season’s line-up were Supriya Lele, ASAI and Matty Bovan, who all showcased their latest creations. Naturally, we were there to get the inside scoop. Here’s what we learned…

1. Matty Bovan does great casting

Georgia May Jagger, Hailey Baldwin, Winnie Harlow and Edie Campbell were only a few of the big-name models walking the knitwear designer’s show.

2. Naomi Shimada has already decided on her favourite LFW collection

We bumped into model Naomi Shimada front row after the show and asked her about her favourite Fashion East collection. “ASAI is probably going to be my favourite thing I see this week, I already know it. It’s very me, very bright and I’m all about the modern knits,” she told us.

3. It’s not just about the handbag – it’s how you carry it

Instead of wearing them cross body or on the shoulder, the models at ASAI held up their handbags at face level to show them off properly.

4. Matty Bovan doesn’t do pretty

“This season, I was looking at colours I don’t normally work with. There’s loads of Motocross references, all the knits are meant to be very brutal and nothing is meant to be pretty,” the designer explained backstage.

5. The smaller the sunglasses, the cooler the look

Supriya Lele accessorised her outfits with some super-cool slim sunglasses, which we’ve definitely already added to our wishlist. We also spotted some bumbags in the collection – bound to become next season’s it-piece.
