New York Fashion Week Makes the Case For Trousers

On Tuesday we celebrated New York Fashion Week with an intimate dinner hosted by stylist Nausheen Shah at Brooklyn’s coolest new restaurant, Cecconi’s. Editors, bloggers, models and friends of Nausheen came to toast the spring 2018 season and prepare for another four weeks of fashion chaos. The dinner was also the perfect opportunity to check out some fashion week trends ahead of the shows and if the night’s looks were anything to go by it was all about a good pair of trousers.

Here’s some we loved…

Influencer and editor Olivia Perez showed us that camel wasn’t just for day time in these paper-waist pants by pairing them with a dramatic ballon sleeve top and white boots.

Faces on the rise Juana Burga and Peju Famojure continued the two-piece trend with classic navy trousers and jeans with a simple top. Both making a case for dramatic ear-wear over glamorous outerwear.

There’s something about stripes. After Chrissy Rutherford chose to wear it for her NYFW edit and singer Liza Owens and Tayla Parx rocked it in Malibu, the striped suit is really doing the rounds. Stylist and dinner host Nausheen Shah followed the trend but gave it her own touch with an oversized belt.

Fashion Week darling Olivia Palermo did low key dressing with her signature cool wearing ripped jeans and a side-tie top. Who knew distressed denim could look so chic?

Who broke unspoken the rule? Sisters Natalie and Dylana Suarez who wore a satin tea dress and monochrome midi, respectively.
