London Fashion Week: Talent To Know

London Fashion Week kicks off on Friday and we’re excited to bring the Topshop show space to a brand new location in Soho. As well as our own Topshop runway on Sunday, we’re hosting shows from some of our favourite London designers at the venue. Want to get to know them? Whether you’re all set to spectate via Instagram and Snapchat, or are mid-way through planning your outfits for the main event, we’ve created a fact file on all the shows not to miss…

1. Fashion East

Fashion East is renowned for identifying and supporting the most exciting new names in the industry. This season’s designers showing in our space are…
Name: Matty Bovan
Fashion credentials: He won Central St Martin’s LVMH Prize, had a stint at Louis Vuitton’s design studio in Paris and featured as Marc Jacob’s muse in his AW16 campaign. Bovan is showcasing his third collection for Fashion East next week.
Influences: His grandma taught him how to knit at just 11, and the rest is history…
Signatures: Bold silhouettes, intricate knitwear and raw hems.
Show date: Saturday 16th September, 10am.

Name: Ta Asai
Fashion credentials: Ta worked on Kanye West’s Yeezy line in LA before moving back to London to start up his own label, ASAI, and joined the Fashion East initiative last season.
Influences: Ta challenges the way we look at Chinese culture in the western world, something reflected in his brand name ASAI (an anagram of ASIA).
Signatures: Material mix – think puffer coats, loose knits and colourful silk.
Show date: Saturday 16th September, 10am.

Name: Supriya Lele
Fashion credentials: Recently graduated from the prestigious Royal College of Arts, Supriya is part of the Fashion East line-up for the second season running.
Influences: The female body and her British and Indian cultural identity.
Signatures: Silky slip dresses, bright red PVC and statement gold jewellery – yes please!
Show date: Saturday 16th September, 10am.

2. House of Holland

Name: Henry Holland
Fashion credentials: Set up by journalist-turned-designer Henry Holland, this London label is known for its witty slogan tees, bright and bold collections and a fan base of celebrity BFFs.
Influences: For SS17 it was Romani gypsies and for AW17 Americana cowgirls – we can’t wait to see where Henry’s mind will go next…
Signatures: Henry Holland basically invented the talking-point tee.
Show date: Saturday 16th September, 5pm.

3. Mary Katrantzou 

Name: Mary Katrantzou
Fashion credentials: Greek designer Mary Katrantzou took the London fashion scene by storm after graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2008. Her most notable successes include two British Fashion Awards and an exclusive collection for Topshop in 2011.
Influences: In her most recent collection Mary payed homage to Disney’s 1940s film Fantasia.
Signatures: Her intricate and vivid trompe l’oeil prints are instantly recognisable, revealing anything from china pots to pencil sharpeners at a closer look.
