Love Ivy Park? We’re incorporating the new collection (now available to shop on Topshop.com) into our everyday wardrobes with the help of Tia Ward – the lifestyle blogger on our radar right now. As well as giving us some serious outfit inspiration, we chatted to the girl of the moment about making it in the industry, what strength means to her and why skipping is the best (and most fun) way to work out…
How did you get into the industry?
I finished my degree and decided that actually, I didn’t want to work for anyone else or answer to a “boss”. I was obsessed with fashion, so blogging seemed like something I’d enjoy so I just gave it a go.
What’s your advice for people who want to get into the industry, or start building their social following?
Consistency and communication are key – you have to engage constantly with your audience, but never sacrifice the quality of your content.
What’s your main benefit of keeping fit and healthy?
The way it makes me feel… More so than the physical benefits, mentally exercise keeps me sane!
What’s the best (and most fun) way to work out? We’re not big fans of the gym…
For me, it’s skipping. My friend Rush Athletics taught me how to skip and it’s the BEST cardio.
What do you look for in workout wear?
Something that makes me feel sexy and strong, and holds me in all the right places.
The new Ivy Park campaign focuses on inner strength. What does this mean to you?
For me, inner strength is about cultivating peace and acceptance within yourself, without having to seek validation from anyone or anything else. It’s about taking the time to know yourself and understand what is important to you, then nurture those things.
What do you love about the Ivy Park pieces you’ve styled?
I love the textures, the colours and that the leggings make your body look amazing!
Key tips on how to style workout wear into your everyday wardrobe?
This look is all about casual-chic. Wearing sliders with jeans and a sports bra always looks laid back, and shape is also important – I love a big oversized jumper with tight leggings for a cool contrast. It’s all about mixing and matching until you find what suits your shape and style the most.
