“Because we are all working harder than ever, I wanted to create a collection this season that was, at is heart, urban but captured a spirit of escapism. I wanted the collection to have a sense of well earned frivolity."

A projection of Daul Kim surrounded by dusky pink hydrangeas set the mood for Richard Nicoll’s show this season.

Inspired by a book of late 19th century Tahitan photography and the way the islanders used to dress, for SS10, Richard created his own grass skirts and draped sarongs.

Using an earthly palette of browns, pinks and greens, Richard used grosgain ribbons, fringing and organza to transform simple shapes and block colour into truly beautifull, yet wearable pieces.

Stating his knotted waist jumpsuit, grosgain ribbon t-shirt dress and oversized botanical print man’s jacket as his favourite pieces, it seems that Richard knows exactly what women want to wear!

We’d like to add one of his structured cocktail dresses to our list – we love the way Richard pinned his favourite objects to them just as the Tahitan’s once did!
