What do you get when you cross Coldplay style piano with heartfelt Adele-esque vocals? 21 year-old musician Frances, that’s what. Sound like your cup of tea? See what she had to say when we chatted teachers, Taylor Swift and all things 2015.

When did you first fall in love with music?
I’ve been into music since I was a toddler, there was always music around the house. But I think I fell in love when I started playing the piano. I realised I could start trying to play all the songs I’d loved listening to.

What’s been your biggest musical inspiration?
My parents and a music teacher I had at school, they would always give me new music to listen to to inspire me.

How would you describe your music?
Emotional, uplifting and reflective. It’s centered around my voice and piano playing. There’s elements of Carole King, Radiohead, Adele and Sia in there.

What do you listen to when you’re off duty?
There are many repeat offenders in my listening routine; Radiohead, Keane, Bjork. But right now I think Taylor Swift is stealing my ears – and the whole world’s too!

What are you most looking forward to this year?
Festival season. I’ve never played a festival before and I’m doing a couple this summer which I’m really excited for!

Did you have any 2015 resolutions?
Write now, think later. I have a habit of thinking too much when I write rather than just being natural. I make it super hard for myself sometimes!
