Meet The Muse: Ella Richards

Our new Archive collection dropped today – over 30 limited edition styles inspired by decades of Topshop style. And who better to inspire and star in it than model of the moment Ella Richards? Daughter to a Vogue cover girl, granddaughter to Rolling Stone Keith Richards and bridesmaid to Kate Moss – this girl’s got serious cool credentials. We caught up with her to chat childhood Topshop buys, style influences and the perks of model life.

What’s your first memory of Topshop?

I remember being about 12 years old and going to Topshop with my mum. I loved everything but none of the sizes fitted me right! So I would buy tops and wear them as dresses.

Do you have any favourite Topshop pieces from when you were younger?

I have some really cute printed playsuits and loose dresses which I love wearing.

Have they influenced your style?

We have such a strong wealth of fashion talent in the UK, and some really influential brands, and Topshop is definitely one of them, I also love Burberry, it’s great to have such iconic fashion coming out of the UK.

How would you describe your style?

I like to be casual and comfortable so I usually add a nice jacket, top or pair of shoes to look more presentable.

What’s the best thing about being a model?

I love travelling, being surrounded by a lot of really creative people – and meeting new people all the time.

How was it shooting the campaign?

I really enjoyed the shoot, it was so interesting seeing replicas of all the iconic Topshop items. I really liked the polka-dot top and matching shorts because when you wear them together it looks like a playsuit.

How would you style them?

I would probably wear them with trainers and keep the rest simple because the polka-dot pattern is already fun and vibrant.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I like to see friends, family, I read a lot and go on long walks.

What do you think you’ll be doing in five years times?

I’m really loving what I’m doing now, working with great brands and photographers on shoots and campaigns; I also really enjoyed working on my collaboration with Parisian brand Paul & Joe, working with them on creating a collection – getting involved from the beginning, working on the details behind the scenes … this is something I would love to do more of.

What’s the summer got in store for you?

I am going away and seeing family and friends and enjoying the hot weather!
