When you think eco-fashion you think hemp and patchwork, right? That’s about to change with our new Topshop Reclaim collection. It all started as a collaboration with eco pioneers Orsola de Castro and Filippo Ricci and their company Reclaim to Wear. Since 1997 the pair have been dedicated to changing the amount of textile waste our planet is responsible for, by taking leftover materials and transforming them into new pieces AKA upcycling: a technique inspired by the punk movement – think shredding, safety pins and patches – and the frayed, patchwork effects used by fashion houses such as Maison Martin Margiela and Commes Des Garçons.
This season we’ve gone it alone to create a capsule collection of Topshop pieces, created using recycled sustainable materials. Giving a nod to the ’90s with frayed collarless jackets and white denim, there’s also dreamy silk florals and delicate sheer overlays on tops and skirts. Want inspiration on how to wear it? See how Personal Shopper Hannah Twist has styled her favourite pieces below.
