What’s a small thing everyone can do to make someone else happy today?
Write a little personal note of thanks or encouragement to somebody you haven’t recently told how wonderful they are. Imagine how it would make you feel to receive a tiny little handwritten note on your desk at work, your lunchbox or hidden in your book.

Why do you think creativity is important to achieving happiness?
I think all types of creativity play huge roles in achieving happiness. For many creatives, including myself, creating is a form of therapy that helps us turn negatives into positives or allows us to make sense of the world through art, music, theatre and a million other outlets. Being creative is such a magical thing. You can use it to help and bring you happiness as well as having the exact same effect on far more people than you realise.

What do you do on a day you don’t feel so happy?
I usually try not to go on social media; instead I’ll go for a walk, get some fresh air and have a cup of tea and a cookie (I make THE best cookies).

What’s your ultimate comfort food that always makes you happy?
Doughnuts, cookies, biscuits… basically anything sweet and sugary.

What was the loveliest thing somebody has ever done for you?
It’s hard to choose just one! I think one of the loveliest was when I had the toughest year a few years back, things had been really difficult at home. I’d said several times to my boyfriend that if I disappeared I’d be at my favourite place in St.Ives, Cornwall, which is full of all the happiest of memories for me. I couldn’t afford to go down there though so for my birthday my boyfriend surprised me and had booked for us to go. We made a fire on the beach and toasted marshmallows and it was just proper magic.

What’s your favourite joke?
What do you call a deer with no eyes?
No eye deer.
What do you call a deer with no eyes or legs?
Still no eye deer.

What’s your favourite happiness quote at the moment?
This week it has to be from the incredible Stephen Hawking:
“Black holes ain’t as black as they are painted. They are not the eternal prisons they were once thought. Things can get out of a black hole, both on the outside and possibly to another universe. So, if you feel you are in a black hole, don’t give up; there’s a way out.”

Which song makes you happy right now?
I listen to heaps of old songs that make me super happy (I even have my own ‘happy days’ Spotify playlist), but a new song that makes me smile every time I hear it is ‘These Days’ by Rudimental.

Which movie always makes you happy?
Love Actually! A bit Christmassy but it makes me SO happy.

Which place always makes you happy?
I have a tiny waterfall near my house, which has always been my secret happy place since I was little. And the seaside, of course.
