Love discovering new artists before everyone is listening to them? Then take note, because R&B musician Allana Verde is on the best way of making it big with her third EP ‘Past Midnight’. Cleverly, the four featured songs take you on a musical journey of an all-nighter, from midnight until the sun begins to rise. We chatted to Allana to get even more reasons why you should be listening to her music now…
How would you describe your sound in three words?
I would describe my sound as nostalgic, diverse and relatable.
Why should people listen to your music?
Because I make relatable music. Personally, I love listening to music that I feel I can connect to. There’s also a blend of genres, so there’s always a little something for everyone.
What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?
I would say playing The Great Escape Festival and also making it onto some really great playlists on Spotify like New Music Friday, This Is How We Do, and R&B UK.
If you could perform with anyone – dead or alive – who would it be?
I would love to perform with Beyoncé because she really knows how to put on a show and she was one of the many artists I listened to growing up.
Who is your biggest fan?
My cousin is my biggest fan and always sends me videos singing along to my songs.
What is your go-to DJ request song?
Coincidentally, I always request Beyoncé’s ‘Drunk In Love’ featuring Jay-Z.
Key tips or advice for young people trying to get into this industry?
My advice would be: put yourself out there as much as you can, take advantage of the Internet and use it as a platform. Also, don’t disregard the input of others when it comes to the creative side of things.
How do you choose your stage outfits?
I send ideas to my stylist Bemi after thinking about the vibe of a gig and she works her magic.
