Let’s take a break from refreshing our wardrobes for the colder seasons and draw some attention to our faces: switching up your beauty look as autumn approaches is perhaps the last step in accepting the end of summer (sorry to bring it up). To take us through day, night and everything in between, we’re now sporting darker eyes, even glowier skin and splashes of neon. Discover three makeup looks to try this autumn, all inspired by the New York Fashion Week runways and bang on trend…
1. All over dew
For seasons going back as far as we can remember, dewy skin is always in. Beauty editors are calling it a post-facial glow, with many designers having skincare specialists present backstage at their shows – Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham and Emilio Pucci to name a few. For this look we’d say: ditch the foundation and stick to concealer on problem areas, keeping the skin fresh. Our Ultra Gloss was practically made for this, so apply it on the high points of the face for a true glass-skin effect. Finish with our Makeup Fixing Mist for that almost-wet look and continue to spray throughout the day for constant dewiness.
2. Smoked out neutrals
It went away for a while, but the smokey eye – in its most classic form – is making a comeback. Cream shadows work best to achieve those undone, bedroom-eyes. Our Eye Crayons are super easy to apply and can be smudged in using your fingers or a fluffy brush. Pay tribute to the pioneer of smokey eyes, Kim Kardashian, by complimenting the look with some killer contour. Carve out your cheekbones with our hero Sculpting Brush and some bronzer. To finish, add a sweep of nude lipstick to keep all the attention on the eyes.
3. Pops of neon
Pops of neon have been all the rage on the runways of NYFW. We understand an electric pink inner corner might not be for you, but neon can be implemented in many different parts of your beauty routine. Bright eyeshadows, lipsticks and liners are great if you’re feeling brave. For a true fresh off the runway look, we advise keeping the rest of your beauty look subdued and minimal. If your most-used eyeshadow is a bronzer however, a neon nail polish might be a more wearable ode to the trend for you.
